It's been awhile since my last post. I've been sick with the stomach flu for about six days now and let me tell you it's a waiting game. There isn't much you can do to make it better honestly. Most days, my three meals of the day include fruit cups and powerade. Those are the only things that sit well with my stomach at the moment. I'm starting to regain my bearings today, but I still feel a bit headachey.
Today, I wanted to talk about some of my favorite skincare and home goods items that are featured in my morning routine. One of the major downsides of being sick is that my skin feels so dry (think Sahara desert--jk. I'm exaggerating). Still, my lips are constantly chapped and my mouth feels really dry as well. And so, I am in need of items that replenish my skin and my lips.
One of the things I really love to do in the morning is mask. I feel like masking just gives my skin such a smooth canvas for makeup. After all, your makeup is only as good as the skin underneath. I've been really loving the Mermaid Mask from Leahlani Skincare. Scratch that, I'm super obsessed with Leahlani products. If I could just use one skincare brand for the rest of my life, I would probably choose Leahlani. Her products are just so well made, so effective, and smell so amazing. (yes, lots of so's) Last month, I got the opportunity to try a few more of products (thanks to Lauren <3). One of the products I use almost every night is the Bless Balm. I've recently started to use it in the daytime because it just gives my skin that pillowy soft feeling and glow that I really need as I'm not exactly at my healthiest at the moment. I can't really describe it, but the Bless Balm has this luxuriously rich yet light texture that really melts into my skin. It's safe to say that the mask & balm are a power duo.
I also love to use this tropical delight whenever my lips are so chapped and dry that no other lip balm sinks in. Glossier's Coconut Balm Dotcom has been a favorite of mine for about two years now. I've always been drawn towards coconut scented things, so you can understand why this is a top pick for me. It's definitely a heavier balm. Most lip balms are formulated with a lot of oils, which are typically a lot lighter. This balm, on the other hand, contains petrolatum, shea butter, beeswax, and lanolin, making it really dense (in a good way). In my opinion, it lasts a lot longer and moisturizes my lips while protecting it from wind and other drying weather conditions. Sort of like the concept of vaseline.
The last thing on my "Favorites in the AM" segment is this PF Candle Co No. 25: Nightshade candle sample I got in my recent purchase of their No. 15: Gardenia & Coconut candle (another amazing scent). I was pretty surprised at how much I love this scent. It's very clean & fresh. I will definitely purchase this one next.
That wraps up all my current favorites. Let me know if you have any tips for combatting the stomach flu!
Until next time, Megan.
